Landmark Note 2

We have company…

On Saturday 8th October 2006 FD and I teamed up with a doggy walking acquaintance of mine, Graeme, and his golden retriever Starr.  We tackled The Law and Ben Cleuch in the Ochils that day and would then go on to tackle a number of hills throughout the following year.  Graeme was with us on our first Munro – Ben Lomond.  After that we tackled Dumyat, Ben Vrackie, Ben Chonzie, Meall nan Tarmachan (and the Tarmachan Ridge) and finally, after a gap of a few months, Stob Binnean and Ben More.  Those two Crianlarich giants ended our partnership with Graeme having foot problems which would plague him for a number of years.  Two of my all time favourite walks were completed with Graeme – Ben Vrackie and The Tarmachan Ridge – two superb winter days out.  The winter had been exceptionally mild 2006 into 2007.

Sadly, like Maisie, Graeme and Starr are no longer with us.  Starr departed in 2007 having suffered from severe epilepsy for a number of years…and Graeme in October 2011 from a heart attack.  It is with great sadness that I now find myself to be the sole survivor of the original Team Fatdog.
