Looking Back is a series of articles in which I will “look back” at the time The Fatdog and I spent in the hills. It was only 5 years ago that we began our hillwalking expeditions but, with Maisie’s big hill days now a thing of history, it now seems appropriate to take another peek at those exciting times – while they are still fresh in my ever-decaying memory. There’s a good chance that we’ll manage a few easy mountains in the coming year – but the walks won’t be on the scale of some of those in the past.
Every one of our trips has an associated “Tail” and photographs. Sadly the words and pictures are now separated by severed address links and will take a lot of work to reinstate. While I have plans to completely re-write the “Tails” and to insert better quality photographs than were in the original stories, this will not happen in the short term.
In the meantime I thought I might take a more reflective look at some of these walks, giving more of an insight into my thoughts at the time and in some cases explaining how what happened then affected future choices.
I hope you enjoy “looking back” with me.
